ABOUT

The early seeds of Vertigo Brewing were sown back in 1995 when Mike Haines and Mike Kinion began experimenting with brewing at U-Brew in Tigard, Oregon. But what began as a light hobby soon developed into a deep passion. They quickly outgrew the offerings of U-Brew and expanded their operation into a homebrew setup. Fifteen years later, the two Mikes have a lot of batches, awards, and experience under their belts. Starting in May of 2008, Vertigo Brewing was christened a fully-licensed brewery in a Hillsboro warehouse.

Vertigo Brewing is currently operating a one barrel system, producing eight to ten barrels a month. But as demand takes off, the two Mikes are eagerly looking forward to an expanded business operation. Vertigo prides itself on producing a unique blend of beer offerings that manage to stand out in the beer-saturated market of the Northwest.

HANDCRAFTED ALES

Apricot Cream Ale

IBU: 11 | SRM: 3.5 | ALC/VOL: 4.6%

Vertigo's Apricot Cream Ale Label

Light crisp summer ale based on our Cyclone Cream Ale. Brewed with Pale and Crystal malts, balanced with late additions of Saaz and Mt. Hood hops, and finished with a hint of apricot. In a head-to-head competition with Pyramid Breweries' Audacious Apricot Ale, our Apricot Cream Ale was well-received — launching it onto Henry's summer menu.

Arctic Blast

IBU: 25 | ALC/VOL: 5.8%

Vertigo's Arctic Blast Label

A robust vanilla porter based on our own Black Pearl. Our Arctic Blast is a Briess pale malt, balanced with Roast, Dark, Crystal and Munich malts — allowing for the perfect mix of malted barley in this robust porter with Madagascar vanilla bean. Lightly hopped to allow a slight roast, dominant chocolate and vanilla bean character to come through. This beer borders on the low end of the IBU scale and the high side for Original Gravity.

Friar Mike's IPA

IBU: 62.4 | SRM: 7.8 | ALC/VOL: 6.1%

Vertigo's Friar Mike's IPA Label

Hand-crafted IPA recipe with help from the Friar himself. Brewed with generous amounts of Columbus, Amarillo, and Cascade hops. An English-style IPA with a Northwest accent. If you see Friar Mike, be sure to say "Cheers!"

High-Altitude Amber

IBU: 39.5 | SRM: 14.5 | ALC/VOL: 5.1%

Vertigo's High-Altitude Amber Label

A well-crafted American Amber brewed with copious amounts of Northwest Cascade hops.

High Dive Rye

IBU: 19 | SRM: 3.6 | ALC/VOL: 5.0%

Vertigo's High Dive Rye Label

A Briess Pale and Wheat-based grain bill balanced with Chocolate, Black patent, Roast, and Munich specialty malts. Makes for a dark, full-bodied robust porter. Lightly hopped with Chinook, Mt. Hood, Horizon, and Saaz, this porter allows for a slight roast, dominant chocolate character to come through. Black Pearl borders on the low end of the IBU scale and the high side for Original Gravity.

Razz Wheat

IBU: 16.3 | SRM: 5.3 | ALC/VOL: 5.3%

Vertigo's Razz Wheat Label

This unfiltered American Wheat Ale eschews syrup for over twelve pounds of real raspberries per barrel — yielding a beer with a delightful blend of flavors. This is an extremely refreshing beer. Our Razz Wheat was recently featured at the 2009 Oregon Brewer's Festival and will be featured again at the 2010 OBF as well.

Schwindel Alt

IBU: 33.9 | SRM: 13.8 | ALC/VOL: 5.1%

Vertigo's Schwindel Alt Label

An award-winning Northern German Alt bier recipe. Carefully fermented and lagered at colder temperatures for a smooth, clean taste.

Spring Harvest Hefe

IBU: 17 | SRM: 5 | ALC/VOL: 5.3%

Vertigo's Spring Harvest Hefe Label

Our delicious Spring Harvest Hefe subtracts the raspberries from our best-selling Razz Wheat and spices things up with Hefe. If you love our delicious fruit ale, but would like to try it year-round without the fruit — this is your beer.

Smokestack Red Ale

IBU: ## | SRM: # | ALC/VOL: #.#%

Vertigo's Smokestack Red Ale

We were asked by Henry's Tavern in downtown Portland to develop a house beer. Together we worked on a red ale recipe.

T.B.D. Blonde

IBU: 16 | SRM: 4 | ALC/VOL: 5.1%

Vertigo's T.B.D. Blonde
